Bill, or any of our prospect gurus, what is the consensus on Alexis Lafreniere? He's obviously the projected #1 pick for 2020 at this point, but is he a projected "generational talent" type or more of your typical #1 overall pick? Any player comparisons at this point? |

I've only seen clips, but he's very difficult to separate from the puck once he has possession and he has top notch skills. A lot of scouts are comparing him to Crosby so, if that holds up, I guess you'd call him a generational talent. His skating seems very good, but not at the level of a McDavid. I think we'll all have a much better read on him after the upcoming season as he is still very young.

I think he's a tier below generational, imho, but I still think he's got the potential to be a star. I mean the kid put up 42G and 80 points in 60 games in the Q last year as a 16 year old rookie. |

Your main 3 tiers:
- Generational (Lemiuex, Crosby, McDavid)
- Franchise (Stamkos, Kane, Matthews)
- Superstars (Nico/Nolan, Yakupov)
Most likely in the Franchise tier. |

Believe it or not, it was actually a couple of degrees cooler at my place in FL, than it was at my place in NJ yesterday. Go figure.

I think you need a separate tier for guys like Lemieux, Gretzky and Orr. I'd go with: So Far Off The (frank)ing Chart That It's Ridiculous, or for brevity's sake, SFOTFCTIR |

LOL, yes and no. One of the things that attracted us to the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area was the fact that it's far enough north to still have seasons. From mid December to early March, the day time highs are usually in the mid 60s and the lows around 50.

I like that he sees Carter Hart as maybe a Carson Wentz type story. That would be pretty interesting. |

So he'll lead us to a 61-5 record, then go down with a season-ending injury, only for former Philadelphia starter and now backup Steve Mason to lead us to Cup glory?
I'll take it. |

Just finished the podcast, I just like that everyone is rational with their opinions, gives props to other players and have logical expectations. Like the opposite of every show in Toronto. |

Lots of interesting stuff from that podcast:
While I still wouldn't put money on it, I don't think it's as farfetched as some around here think that Carter Hart could be playing for the Flyers as their #1 goalie before the end of the 18-19 season. He's excelled at every level he's ever played at and it's not like he has to come in and unseat a stud #1 goalie, or hell, even a legit #1 goalie. I know Hextall likes to err on the side of caution, but if he's clearly their best goaltender in preseason, goes down to LHV and lights it up for a month and the Flyers during that time are only getting so-so goaltending from their vets; he could absolutely find himself in Philly sooner than most think.
I also agree with Jones' point that the young D having another year under their belts is huge and that Sanheim has major upside and could soon be an impact player. I also like that he feels that the Flyers were angry at themselves for how they performed in the playoffs and now have a better understanding of what it takes to win in the postseason.
I agree with him in regards to G regressing to the 80 or so point range, but also with the Flyers having more balanced scoring throughout the lineup and that Patrick will have much more of an impact this year. Personally, I can see Giroux finishing in the 80-90 point range and both Jake and Coots scoring 5-15 points less than last year. However, as a team, I think the Flyers will increase their offensive production this year due to adding JVR, getting much more from Patrick and Lindblom, having a healthy Simmonds and having a more experienced Sanheim on the roster and in the lineup all season.
Finally, I agree with Jones that the Flyers can compete for the top spot in the Metro. Every team in the division has at least some flaws and I don't see any team that is going to go out and put up greater than 105 or so points. |

Also, we'd have to also acquire Braydon Coburn just for the 2Real reaction. |

My gut is probably wrong, but I just have a crazy feeling that he will make the team (the big club) out of camp. I just have a feeling. |

Meh Jonesy knows nothing. There are much older, much wiser hockey minds who understand the Flyers will regress this season due to the loss of Manning and Filppula.
